Fly across the Atlantic…on the sea

The first foil of new MACIF trimaran, skippered by François Gabart, was delivered by C3 Technologies on the very first days of october. This part represents more than 1500 hour of work for the teams of the company, “just” to manufacture it.
It is not only a concentrate of technology and research but also a first worldwide on a multihull of such a dimension. The “L” shape foil features the boat in order to make it fly or at least discharge significantly the pressure of the hull into the water. Whereas last America’s Cup enables great advances in this new way of sailing, it has remained limited to short trips, lighter boats and nearby the coast until now.
MACIF will take part in the Transat Jacques Vabre next October 25th, racing across the Atlantic from Le Havre (France) to Itajai (Brasil), in the Ultime category which gathered big multihulls.
